Associate Professor in the Department of Virology at IMPPG and head of the Laboratory of Cellular Response to Viral Infections (LaRIV).
Her research group has been dedicated over the years to investigating the mechanisms of tissue damage and mediators associated with the progression of infections caused by different arboviruses, such as Zika, Chikungunya, Mayaro, and Dengue, and more recently, SARS-CoV-2. To achieve this, they have focused on characterizing in vitro and in vivo experimental models to understand the molecular aspects of virus-cell interactions in target tissues, study viral pathogenesis and molecules involved in tissue damage, and test the therapeutic activity of new compounds with potential antiviral properties, as well as clinically approved drugs for other diseases.
