Adriane Regina Todeschini

She holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul (1992), a master’s and a doctorate in Natural Products Chemistry from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). She completed a sandwich doctorate at the University of California, San Diego. She was an assistant professor at the State University of Rio de Janeiro and a visiting researcher at the University of Washington (2005-2007). From 2015 to 2022, she coordinated the Multi-User Laboratory of Biological Models at the Carlos Chagas Filho Institute of Biophysics at UFRJ. Currently, she is an associate professor at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, head of the Structural and Functional Glycobiology Laboratory, and coordinator of the Graduate Program in Biological Sciences, Biophysics (CAPES 7). She is recognized as a “Scientist of Our State” by FAPERJ and is a CNPq level 1C researcher. Her research focuses on the molecular mechanisms of cell recognition mediated by carbohydrates. She believes that glycoconjugates act as sensors of metabolic changes induced by the environment and contribute to cellular plasticity. She studies alterations in the cellular glycophenotype induced by metabolic diseases such as cancer and diabetes, with a particular focus on hexosamine biosynthesis. (Text provided by the author).
