Terezinha Marta Pereira Pinto Castineiras

She graduated in Medicine (cum laude, 1987), with a Master’s and PhD in Medicine (Infectious and Parasitic Diseases) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro. She has been a faculty member of the UFRJ School of Medicine since 1993, currently serving as an Associate Professor in the Department of Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, a department she chaired from March 2019 to April 2022. She participated in the creation and is an active member of the medical team at the Health Information Center for Travelers (Cives) since its establishment at UFRJ (1997). She was a member of the GT-Coronavirus and Coordinator of the UFRJ COVID-19 Screening and Diagnostic Center during the COVID-19 pandemic. She is the author of the project to create the Carlos Chagas Center for Emerging Infectious Diseases (NEEDIER), a supplementary unit of CCS approved by the University Council on July 8, 2021, and was elected and appointed its director (first term). She has expertise in Medicine, with an emphasis on Infectious and Parasitic Diseases, particularly in clinical infectious diseases, tropical medicine, travel medicine, and vaccinology. She holds an international certification of proficiency in travel medicine from the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM).
