Alessandra Filardy is an Assistant Professor (Department of Immunology) and head of the Cellular Immunology Laboratory at IMPG/UFRJ, a CNPq researcher 2 and a Scientist of Our State (FAPERJ). She is a permanent advisor for the Graduate Program in Microbiology (CAPES 7) and the Graduate Program in Immunology and Inflammation (CAPES 6). She conducts research in the area of ​​“Regulation of Cellular Immune Responses”, with an emphasis on mucous membranes. The research projects under her leadership aim to understand how phagocytosis of apoptotic cells regulates the immune system in the pulmonary and intestinal mucosae, and the composition of the microbiota, during homeostasis and in inflammatory and infectious diseases.
