Fábio Barrozo do Canto

He graduated in Biological Sciences (Bachelor’s and Teaching degree) from the Fluminense Federal University (2007-2008) and completed his master’s (2009) and doctoral (2013) degrees in Sciences (Microbiology) – concentration area: Immunology – at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). He conducted part of his doctoral studies (as a PDSE-CAPES sandwich doctoral fellow) at the laboratory of Prof. Juan Lafaille at New York University, NY, USA (2012 – 2013). He served as a substitute professor in the Department of Immunology at the Paulo de Góes Institute of Microbiology (IMPG), UFRJ (2015 – 2017), and was a fellow of the National Postdoctoral Program (PNPD – CAPES, 2017 – 2018). Currently, he is the head of the Department of Immunobiology at the Fluminense Federal University and serves as a faculty member in the Postgraduate Program in Immunology and Inflammation (IMPG, UFRJ). He has experience in the field of Immunology, with an emphasis on Cellular Immunology, primarily focusing on the following topics: regulatory T cells, immunoregulation, inflammatory bowel disease, graft-versus-host disease, transplantation tolerance, homeostatic control of the peripheral T cell compartment, B lymphocytes, IgE-mediated allergy, and teaching Immunology.
