Inter-Institutional Master’s (MINTER)

Cooperation Project between Institutions for the Qualification of Higher Education Professionals (PCI) – MINTER

The Postgraduate Program in Immunology and Inflammation at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (PPG-II – UFRJ), in partnership with the Federal University of Tocantins (UFT), Palmas, Tocantins, obtained approval of a MINTER proposal through CAPES notice No. 21/2023. Cooperation Projects between Institutions for the Qualification of Higher Education Professionals (PCIs) are national or international, academic or professional projects that implement temporary master’s (Minter) and/or doctoral (Dinter) classes. Cooperation projects are conducted by a promoting institution with a national stricto sensu postgraduate program, on the premises of a hosting institution.

The strategic partnership between PPG-II – UFRJ (promoting institution) and UFT (hosting institution) responds to the challenge of nucleating and expanding the frontiers of human resources training of PPG-II in order to contribute to the reduction of regional disparities. The objective is to promote actions that increase the training of masters and the qualification of higher education professors in the North region (Legal Amazon), as well as the formation and consolidation of research groups at UFT, in addition to academic exchange. In line with the 2024-2028 National Postgraduate Plan (PNPG), the implementation of the PCI MINTER PPG-II – UFRJ and UFT appears as an opportunity to enable the adoption of the excellent academic and scientific production of PPG-II in favor of the local and regional development of the State of Tocantins, with nationwide repercussions, in order to meet the social and professional demands of the labor market in the North region of Brazil, considering a state belonging to the Legal Amazon. Furthermore, it aims to strengthen UFT in terms of safeguarding the transfer of such knowledge, while increasing the nucleation power of the PPG-II for regions that can benefit from this exchange. The proposal is coordinated by a PPG-II graduate at the hosting institution: José Bruno Nunes Ferreira Silva, PhD, permanent professor at UFT. The activities of the MINTER master’s class are expected to start in the first semester of 2026.
