Josiane Sabbadini Neves

She holds a degree in Pharmacy from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (1999), a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences from the same university (2004), and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Harvard Medical School (Boston, USA, 2005-2009).

She is currently the Coordinator of the Graduate Program in Immunology and Inflammation (IMPG – UFRJ) (since December 2021). She was a member of the Deliberative Committee of the Graduate Program in Pharmacology and Medicinal Chemistry (ICB/UFRJ) (2019-2020) and served as Coordinator of the Undergraduate Program in Pharmacology (2013-2014). Additionally, she was a board member of the International Eosinophil Society (2015-2019).

She has extensive experience in leukocyte activation mechanisms and inflammatory responses to allergens and pathogens, particularly fungi. Her current research projects focus on investigating the cellular signaling pathways leading to the release of DNA networks by leukocytes and their clinical relevance.

As part of another research line, she aims to characterize the expression and role of inflammasome proteins in in vitro eosinophil activation and in vivo eosinophilic inflammation. Another area of interest is the study of purinergic receptor expression and functionality in eosinophilic inflammation.

Currently, she is an Associate Professor III at the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (ICB) – Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ). (Text provided by the author.)
