Marcelo Torres Bozza

He holds a degree in Medicine from UERJ (1990) and a Ph.D. in Cellular and Molecular Biology from FIOCRUZ (1998). He was a research fellow at Harvard School of Public Health (1994-1996). He is a Full Professor and Head of the Department of Immunology at UFRJ. He contributed to the creation and coordinated the graduate program in Immunology and Inflammation at UFRJ (2012/2016). He is internationally recognized for his contributions to the molecular and cellular mechanisms associated with tissue damage and pathogen resistance, discoveries that may lead to new therapies for inflammatory and infectious diseases. He was awarded the Capes: Sorbonne Universite Chair (2015/2016 at the Musée National d’Histoire Naturelle in Paris) and the Fulbright Scholar award (2018/2019 at the New York School of Medicine) to serve as a professor and researcher.
