Patricia Bozza graduated in Medicine in 1990 from the Faculty of Medical Sciences, University of the State of Rio de Janeiro; and obtained a Ph.D. in Sciences (concentration in Pharmacology) in 1993 from the Cellular and Molecular Biology Program at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute. In 1994, Patricia was appointed a Pew Latin American Fellow and conducted her postdoctoral research at Beth Israel Hospital, Harvard Medical School. Patricia Bozza is a senior researcher at the Oswaldo Cruz Institute, a Level 1A CNPq researcher, a member of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences, and a member of TWAS. Patricia was an International Scholar of the Howard Hughes Medical Institute from 2002 to 2006 and chaired the Brazilian Committee of the Pew Biomedical Sciences Program. The research group led by Patricia focuses on the study of the cellular and molecular mechanisms involved in the inflammatory and metabolic response to infections, as well as the role of the inflammatory process and alterations in lipid metabolism in obesity and cancer.
